Lahaul, Spiti and Ladakh Bike Tour

This trip takes you to Shimla, which was the winter capital of the British Empire during the Raj. From Shimla the safari follows the beautiful mountain road to Kinnaur. From Kinnaur you enter the very remote, dry and mostly barren valley of Spiti which has the Tabo, Ki and Dankar monasteries. You cross the KunZum La (15,155 feet) into Lahaul and then take the Manali – Leh road that passes over Baralacha La (16,260 feet) and Tanglang La (17,850 feet) – the third highest pass in the world – into Leh, where you visit Shey, Thiksey and Hemis Gompas and the Tibetan bazaar.

Day 1: Chandigarh to Narkanda(200km)

Road type: 70% tar roads and 30% off-roading.

Altitude: 2710m.  

Stay: Lakeside Apple Farm Resort.

Attraction: Skiing point, Apple Farms     

Day 2: Narkanda to Kalpa(163km)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 2960m.  

Stay: Nice Tent Stay.

Food:Staple Local Food.

Attraction: Explore Kalpa, View Mount Kailash, Explore Chitkul-Last inhabited village India on indo-china border, Beautiful flower valley. Potatoes grown here are world famous and very costly. Non-predictable weather conditions are famous here. Even in summers sometimes temperature goes down suddenly resulting into snowfall.

Day 3: Kalpa to Tabo(160km)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 3280m.  

Stay: Nice Tent Stay.

Attraction: Tabo is a small village situated on the bank of River Spiti.We will drive through Ribba, Moron and Tila monasteries to Tabo a journey of 6 to 7 hours. According to the monks this 1000 years old holiest mud structured monastery is a epithet of “Ajanta of Himalayas”.

 

Day 4: Tabo – Pin – Kungri – Dankar – Comic – Kaza (100km)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 3450m.  

Stay: Enjoy the stay in homestay.

Food:Staple food with locals

Attraction: Kaza is the remotest village in Himachal Pradesh surrounded by High Mountains. On the way we will also see Kungri and Dhankar Monasteries. Kaza is famous for its colourful festivals. Post your cards through post located at the highest point in a world Comic.

 

Day 5: Kaza to Chander Tal (Via Kunzum pass) (100km)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 4551m.  

Stay: Nice Tents near Chandar tal (4270m)

Attraction: Hit adventurous Kunzum pass (4551m) and picturesque Chandertal Lake (4270m).

The lake is placed between a low ridge and the main Kunzum range with an outlet into the Chandra River.

 

Day 6:Chander Tal to Keylong(Jispa) (120km)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 3200m.  

Stay: Stay at a Guest House

Attraction: Exit through hard route with many water Crossings. View of Waterfalls, Colourful valley of  Keylong and drastic change of culture from Hinduism to Buddhism.

 

Day 7:Rest and Relax Day

Visit the town, give servicing to your bikes if required, enjoy the stay with Locals of Keylong.

 

 

 

Day 8:  Keylong  to Tso-Kar (200kms)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 4530m.  

Stay: Stay in a tent near lake side.

Attraction: Baralacha pass (4890m),  Sarchu Plane Plateau (4253m) , Gata loops, Lachung La pass (5059m), Tent City Pang, Namkila pass, Kangla Jal Pass Biggest and Highest plateau (Skyangchu Thang) (stretch of 42km) , Tso-Kar Lake.

 

Day 9:  Tso-Kar to Tso-Morari (180kms)

Road type: 100% off-roading.

Altitude: 4595m.

Attraction: Polokangla Pass, Namchikla Pass (3000m), Korzok Village, Tso-Morari.

 

Day 10: Tso-Morari to Shakti, via Mahe Bridge (180kms)

Altitude: 3500m.  

Stay: A nice Hotel Stay near Market.

Food:staple 4 course meal.

Attraction: Calm Thatsangkaru Lake which will refresh you from a day journey and a  white bubbling view of  Chumathang Hot Springs

 

Day 11:  Shakti to Pangong Lake (130kms)

Road type: 70% off-roading and 30% tar road

Altitude: 5360m.  

Stay: Stay in a basic resort

Food: staple 4 course meal.

Attraction: Second Highest Motorable passChangla Pass (5359m), View of Luminous Blue-Green Pangong Lake (5360m) will make you fall in love with it. Enjoy the view of Tibetan shore from the resort. Don’t forget to bring your tripod to catch the glimpse of Galaxy.

 

Day 12:   Pangong Lake to Hunder (150kms)

Road type: 70% off-roading and 30% tar road

Altitude: 5250m.  

Stay: Stay in a Tent near Lake

Food: staple 4 course meal.

Attraction: Wari La pass (5300m), Diskit Monastery, Enjoy the double hump camel ride in a cold white dessert of Hunder (Nubra Valley).

 

Day 13: Hunder to Leh (160kms)

Road type: 70% off-roading and 30% tar road

Altitude: 5369m.

Day 14: Excursion to Leh Monasteries and museums

Servicing day for Bikes and local sightseeing day for us. You can enjoy the visit to Shea Palace, Shanti Stupa, Thiksey Monastery, Leh Market, Hall of Fame and many more.

 

Day 15: Leh to Sarchu (230 kms)
